Designing faster with a baseline grid →
I’ve been using the 960 grid system for what feels like forever now, but was never really concerned with the baseline grid. This will probably change that. My only gripe is that the file provided is a 12 column format where I usually prefer the 16 column format of the 960 grid. I’ll probably combine the 6pc baseline grid from their file with my preferred 16 column template.

Guilloche Pattern Generator →
This is a really fantastic utility. It supports saving out to a JPG but you can get some vector output by printing to a PDF file and then opening it in Illustrator. Then with a little tweaking the vector output will be gosh darn sexy.

Stanislaw Lem Wacom Sketch Process
My wife got me a Wacom Intuos 4 for christmas as a surprise gift. To be honest, at first I wasn’t quite sure if I would take to it. I know people that use tablets and love them but I’ve always been a mouse guy.
I recently had a need to digitally recreate a sketch of Stanislaw Lem I had done years ago for an illustration class back in college. I looked everywhere for the original...

Surprisingly excited to try this system out…960 sometimes creates some layout issues for me with things being very tight because of thin margins.

I can speak from personal experience that getting your site mentioned on Reddit does wonders for your pageviews. Back in Dear Adobe’s heyday, we had 32,000+pageviews in one day thanks to Reddit.
It’s just a shame that Reddit is a bit…erm…ugly.

WordPress and Custom Post Types: Together at last
I’ve started building a couple of sites in WordPress 3.0 and while the new Custom Post Types stuff they’ve added in is very nice, it doesn’t quite cover all the bases. Community plugin developers to the rescue!
The challenge I was having was that I wanted to make custom post types that would let me create URLs like so: example.com/videos/ and have that content type show up in...
